Lilis Surjani was one successful diva indonesia in era 1960s. She started to sing when she was 12 years old. then she got more popularity when she was singing a song dedicated to indonesia’s first president Ir. Soekarno. “oentoek paduka jang mulia presiden soekarno” brought her more famous not only in indonesia, she was also well known in malaysia, singapore and philippine.
then, one of my friend who also well known as Jake Whale introduced me to a song which stuck whole days in my head. an indonesian rapper called Brother-D, he’s mixing “oentoek paduka jang mulia presiden soekarno” as sample for the song; “pada paduka”. it’s pretty ear catching and brain washing. the video is also bloody good, i love all the scenes which is showing footages of “indonesia tempoe doeloe”. the video is made by Jake Whale. good job!
last but not least, here’s my favorite phenomenal indonesia song “gendjer-gendjer” lilis suryani version. i trully love her voice on this track. enjoy your sunday! 🙂
